First of all, we would like to thank you for visiting our website. We sincerely hope our plans become yours, too, because we believe that you share our desire for an effective DAS.
Why is the DAS relevant?
The answer came immediately after we asked these other questions, things that you might also have asked yourselves. Why is it that in the 21st century there are still so many businesses that don’t understand the role and value of design? How can I shape their mindsets? Why, despite having so many design schools in Singapore, many young designers are still clueless about what the industry need? Why are so many freelancers and printing companies with little regard for design standards and ethics claiming to be professionals? We could keep asking ourselves these questions, but what can we do about it? Everything becomes clear because you realise that no designer or company can do this alone. We need each other and the DAS.
Will we succeed?
We are not starting from ground zero, because the DAS has been around for more than 23 years and still has goodwill from people within the government and industry. What we need to do is to quickly reorient the association to its core business, which is all about representing the interests of designers and design. We need to do better in uniting the design community and be inclusive towards everyone. But we will not succeed without you. We need your support.
Who are we?
Both of us have had the opportunity of being in the DAS for a number of years. During this time, we have made many friends and found an extended family. We are sure that in the many conversations that we have all had, some have found business partners, while others have discovered new insights or new opportunities. Keeping these conversations friendly and inclusive is what we intend to do. We are committed to serving your interests, and that is why we are asking you to join us and be part of this wonderful community. Support us so that we can bring about the change you wish to see. We look forward to seeing you at any DAS event.
